Another strong showing by Redlands on Saturday against a confident Springwood coming off a massive win in the first round. Again we started short without any interchange players as we had a few on holidays and with exams. We also had 4 new players Eron, Jack, Liam and Luke with 2 old players Crumbs and Mick Rennie playing their first game of the year and all stood up really well. As the game went on the boys really thrived on the contest with the backline standing up to all challenges thrown at them with Willow, Ladders, Buster, Watto and Issac leading the way.

Giant ruckman Craig Malone is back home and out of hospital after surgery on Monday on his broken ankle.

The big unit went down early in the second quarter after an opposition player accidently fell across his leg after a centre bounce

With a plate and five screws inserted in the leg the big fella will be setting off metal detectors across the country as he takes the first steps in his rehabilitation

Malone 21, has been a revelation through the pre-season and early games since crossing from Alexandra Hills via Mt Gravatt

Reigning NEAFL Premiers the Brisbane Lions Reserves travelled to Casheezi Park for the all important Round 3 clash.

Put in context the Lions list is decimated with injury and suspension which has a domino effect on what the Reserves field week in week out. This was also exacerbated by a number of lower age academy players filling in, some playing their first ever games of open age football.

The Redland Bombers travelled to a wet and soggy Ainslie Oval for their first game of the NEAFL season and returned with the spoils winning 16.12.108 to 10.10.70.

Inclement weather had dogged the nations capital with the postponement of one fixture and rescheduling of another. The Ainslie ground staff did a fabulous job to have the oval in the condition it was presented.
